Our Mini Bullie Story

Our journey with Miniature Bull Terriers began with hesitation, uncertainty, and a little bit of fear. Before we ever owned one, my impression of the breed was not a positive one. I had heard the stereotypes—that they could be stubborn, difficult, even aggressive—and I worried about their temperament around people and children. At that time, I could not imagine that these unusual little dogs would one day become such an important part of our lives.

Our first attempt to welcome a Miniature Bull Terrier into our family was in 2018. We were full of excitement and anticipation when our first puppy arrived. He quickly showed us what a loving and gentle soul he was. Unfortunately, our happiness was short-lived. Our puppy was diagnosed with a rear bone disease that meant he could not grow into a healthy dog. It was heart-breaking, but the responsible breeder made the difficult decision to take him back so he could receive proper care.

Losing him was painful, but the experience also showed us the beauty of his temperament. Even in the short time he was with us, he had completely changed my view of the breed. He was affectionate, playful, and deeply connected to us. From that moment, I knew the negative reputation I had believed simply did not match the dog I had known.

About twelve months later, hope returned to our home when his younger brother finally arrived. It was the beginning of the pandemic, and the world felt uncertain, but our new puppy Tyson brought light and laughter into the house. Tyson was everything a bullie should be—a bundle of joy, mischief, energy, and personality. Very quickly he decided that we were his toys, his entertainment, and his devoted servants. In the best possible way, of course.

Life with Tyson was never boring. He filled every day with games, stubborn moments, and endless affection. But it also became clear that such an energetic and social dog would benefit from having a companion of his own. We began searching for a healthy female of good quality, hoping one day to build a small family of bullies.

The search was not easy. We had several unsuccessful attempts to find the right dog, but eventually we discovered a beautiful female in Poland. Without hesitation, we packed our bags and traveled there to bring her home. That journey marked the beginning of the next chapter of our bullie adventure.

Two years later another personality joined our growing family—Waka Waka. With two boys in the house, life became far more complicated and much louder. Suddenly there were debates about attention, competition for treats, and the occasional argument about territory. It was during this time that we truly understood the strength and determination of the breed. Miniature Bull Terriers may be small in size, but their personalities are enormous. They are powerful, stubborn, and incredibly confident.

For the sake of harmony, we eventually made the difficult decision that Tyson, my beloved white bullie, would move to live permanently with my ex-partner. This allowed the boys to have their own homes and avoid unnecessary conflict. It was not an easy choice, but it was the right one for them.

Time passed, and our little bullie family continued to grow in new ways. Recently our female had her very first litter of puppies. Watching them arrive into the world felt like a full circle moment—from our first heart-breaking experience to now raising healthy little bullies of our own.

Among the puppies there is one special red boy we are thinking of keeping. That would mean, once again, two boys under one roof. Surprisingly, this time things are different. At least for now, they are best friends—playing, sleeping, and exploring the world together.

Looking back, it is incredible how much my feelings toward this breed have changed. What began with fear and uncertainty has grown into deep respect, loyalty, and love. Miniature Bull Terriers can certainly be challenging. They are stubborn, strong-willed, and sometimes a little chaotic. They are also misunderstood by many people.

But for those who truly know them, they are something special. They are clowns that make you laugh every day, loyal shadows that follow you everywhere, and companions that love with their whole hearts.

Our life with bullies has been full of challenges, surprises, and unforgettable moments—but we would not change a single part of the journey.
